As part of our collaborative work with Harris County Public Health, our WEG members participated in a nutrition class and a fun cooking demonstration! Leaders from had this to say:

“It was an exciting and unique experience to be able to educate in Swahili! We had an interactive discussion on the overview of the US food environment and the importance of making healthy food choices. In addition, we had a cooking demonstration where the participants learned a new recipe and how the use of spices can both flavor and provide health benefits. It was a warm and engaging class, and we’re looking forward to another session!”

"Shamba Ya Amani continues to be a place where witness shows up in action. Where people come together to build something that matters. Where the work is grounded in justice, shaped by community, and rooted in hope."
