Edimara and her family have opened their hearts and home to countless pets in need since they became Houston Humane Society fosters in 2023, helping the pets heal, build confidence, and prepare for life with a loving family.

Their first foster experience was with a senior Chihuahua. "In the end, we adopted her, and she helped raise dozens of foster kittens that came through our home. She lovingly groomed them and cared for them as if they were her own babies."

Edimara knows that when she fosters a pet, she and her family are "offering a safe place where an animal can heal, learn to trust again, and prepare for the life they deserve."

If you're hesitant about becoming a foster, Edimara ensures you that it's absolutely worthwhile.

She says, "Getting attached isn't a problem—it's the goal. Love is what helps these animals heal. Yes, saying goodbye can be difficult, but the joy of knowing they found the family they were always meant to have is worth every tear. The love you give them changes their life forever, and I promise they will change yours too."

Our new Veterinary Clinic was thoughtfully designed to provide safe, high-quality surgical care while expanding access to these essential services for more pets throughout our community.

From admission to recovery, every patient receives attentive, compassionate care from our veterinary team. One of the standout features of our new clinic is our expanded recovery area, equipped with six recovery tables, allowing us to safely monitor and care for more patients at once. This increased capacity means we can serve a higher volume of clients while maintaining the individualized attention every companion deserves.

Our final horse feature for Adopt a Horse Month is Gigi!

Gigi is a gentle mare who is ready for a second chance at a beautiful life.

She is sweet, kind, and patient. Our staff is very fond of spending time with her when they need a relaxation moment.

She does well with other female herdmates and would thrive in a home with a guardian who just wants a friend to pass the days with.
