Did you know exchange students lose the academic year they’re in America?! Almost all have to repeat their grade when they go home. That’s how much these students are passionate about coming to the US for a year.
This isn’t my usual content, but we’ve had such a great experience with our two exchange students these past two years, I wanted to share. It was a joy to talk learn about politics and life, and to share ours. The world is a bit crazy right now, but one of the myriad of ways to bridge the divide is to learn about other cultures by hosting an exchange student. We used . If you’ve ever considered hosting, there are always more students than families!

Happy Mother’s Day!
I spent so many years training them to not be lazy in their dress, only for them to show Ben and I up at church today. We were in jeans 😆
We’re with all the cousins on my side of the family this week as we celebrate my dad’s 70th birthday. We went to the Peace Arch on the US/Canadian boarder.
Photo tip: stand far in front of something like this. Most would naturally stand under it, but it’s just too tall for a good angle!
I’m sharing this because it see it happen all the time: people squinting as they stare directly into the brightest sun ever 😆🫣

There’s one thing with homeschooling I’d love to impress on the newer moms out there: you absolutely never know what the next season holds. You spend so much time researching, planning, preparing, and thinking you know what’s next... only for the Lord to open a completely different door.
What started as a funny comment in early March has turned into a complete pivot. Adelaide is finishing up her Junior year this month. She only needs 3 more credits to graduate. I joked that she could complete those 3 credits over the summer and go to college early. Well... she’s now registered for Dual Enrollment through Boyce College to complete those three credits by July 26, and will be attending Boyce College come August 13!
Even though she’s graduating early, she will have 27 college credits when she starts in the Fall. And just as exciting, a dear friend that offered for Adelaide to room with her next year!
Adelaide will be majoring in Communications. She wants to become a political journalist... or own a cafe/bookstore... and continue to publish novels in her series. Any of those passions require honing her communications/marketing skills and we’re excited to see where her studies take her! ❤️
Every year I haven’t held tightly to my homeschool plan and it has served us well with both Harrison and Adelaide!
It will feel absolutely RIDICULOUS in the moment… 😆 But I promise you, you’ll get good photos out of it!!
