Houston is changing, and film is helping lead the way. 🎬

New state incentives. Growing infrastructure. Expanded training opportunities. More productions. More collaboration. More filmmakers beginning to look at Houston not just as a backdrop, but as a filmmaking city.
And WorldFest-Houston has been right in the middle of that evolution.

Did you attend this year’s festival?
The screenings. The conversations. The Remi Awards. The filmmaker meetups, panels, and creative collisions that spark careers, partnerships, and entirely new ideas.
The energy was real, and you could feel something shifting.

And honestly? We’re just getting started.

You should have been here. 🎬

The energy at our 2026 Opening Night Mixer was something special. Old friends reconnecting, new collaborations beginning, shrimp turnovers, charcuterie, good drinks, and the kind of real conversation that only happens when passionate storytellers gather in the same room.

This is what WorldFest-Houston is about, the people behind the films.

A huge thank you to , director of "Star Sailors: Past the Horizon," for helping create such an unforgettable Opening Night. Your film set the tone for everything that followed, and we’re so grateful you shared your story with Houston.

And a very special thank you to the incredible women who helped bring a taste of Portugal to the evening, Monica Clemente Sequeira, Lidia Almeida-Shea, and Connie Almeida. 🇵🇹 Your warmth, hospitality, and community spirit made the night truly magical.
This year’s festival may be a wrap, but the story is far from over.

Here’s what’s next:

Some stories are too big for one film. 🎬

After his screening at WorldFest-Houston, director Fernando Vendrell shared something that stopped the room.
His latest film wasn’t adapted from a book. It grew from dreams, years of research, and a deep creative obsession. And even then, some of the most extraordinary stories never made it into the final cut. 🎭
A prison. A barber. A killer. Entire worlds that lived in his imagination but never reached the screen.

This is what happens when filmmakers and audiences come together in the same room. Real conversation. Real inspiration. The stories behind the stories. 🙌
That’s the magic of WorldFest-Houston.
