🏥 A Century of Care & Resilience: Riverside Hospital is Returning! 🏥

Exactly 100 years after it first dedicated its doors on Juneteenth in 1926 as the Houston Negro Hospital, the historic Third Ward landmark is preparing for an exciting new chapter. Originally built to provide dignity and care during segregation, the facility is being revitalized into a modern health hub.

Thanks to a powerful partnership between Harris County, local nonprofits, and community leaders, the campus is being transformed into the new headquarters for Harris County Public Health and its ACCESS Harris County program. It will serve as a one-stop-shop for coordinated care for vulnerable communities.

As Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis (who was actually born at Riverside!) shares: "The revitalization of these three historic buildings symbolizes a new day for Riverside Hospital and the Greater Houston community." ✨
