November is here that means thanksgiving is only a few weeks away! Here are some CKD friendly tips to get you through thanksgiving dinner!

Tip #1: Prepare your turkey with a salt-free rub and low-salt broth. Mrs. Dash is a good SUBSTITUTE for seasoning and table salt.

Tip #2: Double-boil your potatoes, sweet potatoes, and yams to get out that extra potassium.

Tip #3: Make sure to take your phosphate binding pills with your meal.

Tip #4: Remember to watch out for your fluid intake! too much fluid may result in hospitalization

Get ready for Fall and don't let your albumin fall!

Albumin is a protein in your blood and is essential in supporting tissue growth, fighting off infections, and a marker for your nutritional status.

How to raise or maintain your albumin levels:

* Eat a protein source with every meal, including snacks!

* Drink 32 oz of fluids each day. Too much fluid can decrease your albumin levels.

* Have a protein bar for on the go! Remember ALWAYS read the label some protein bars have a lot of potassium or phosphorus.
