As we wrap up another year, I want to take a moment to thank all of my current and former clients for trusting me with some of the most important (and often most emotional) moments of their lives.

As a family law attorney handling divorces, child custody, and domestic violence matters—and as an estate planning attorney helping families with trusts and wills (including those moments when parents reconsider beneficiaries after being just a little upset with their kids 😉)—I see every day that life is… complicated.

This holiday season, my wish is simple:

fewer domestic violence calls during the holidays

fewer attempts to disinherit children out of holiday frustration

more patience, forgiveness, and peace in our homes

Life isn’t perfect for everyone, and one of its biggest challenges is learning how to forgive, love, and stay flexible enough to change our behavior so we can be loved in return.

I’m sharing a few photos of what really matters most to me:
my husband, our two sons (who make us incredibly proud as they work in cutting-edge high-tech companies while continuing their education), and of course our beloved dog, Major, who keeps us all grounded 🐾

Unlike many attorneys, I’m not big on polished, staged photos. Most of the time you’ll find me in jeans, sportswear, or whatever I wore that day (as you may recall from past posts 😄).
But for this special Christmas season, I even dressed up in a yellow dress—just to add a little holiday, party-like cheer and variety this year!

From our family to yours, I wish you a peaceful, healthy, and joyful holiday season, and a New Year filled with clarity, kindness, and hope.

Happy Labor Day – Part 2! 🌳🌊⚖️🐾
What a Sunday! As a continuation of today’s earlier post about Major’s adventure in Huntington Beach Central Park, we kept the fun going and took him to the ocean in the afternoon — because no holiday weekend is complete without both trees and waves.
As you’ll see in the photos, the waves were huge and came crashing in like tough court battles — but just like in family law, we faced them head-on. 💪 Major, our fearless Law Office of Angela Schmidt protection dog, treated each wave like opposing counsel and “won his case” every time by bringing his toy safely back to shore. 🏆🐶
And of course, even on a Sunday of a holiday weekend, the work never really stops — I took a new custody case call right after we left the beach. (Because in family law, just like the ocean, the tide never waits!)
Tomorrow is Labor Day, and from my family (and Major) to yours, we wish you a wonderful, restful day filled with joy, laughter, and time with the people — and pets — you love most. Thank you for trusting our office with your most important cases and for referring friends and family. We are always here, rain or shine, wave or no wave. 🌊❤️

As much as I enjoy scrolling through all your fabulous vacation photos (seriously, you guys travel like influencers), I figured it was time to give back to the feed. From July 2 to July 6, I took my own heavy-duty adventure — 4 flights in 5 days — across three beautiful Mexican states, with kids, culture, and comedy all in the mix.

So here’s my contribution: a photo drop straight from the beaches of Baja California Sur to the pyramids near Mexico City. Expect a little of everything:
– Ocean views 🌊
– Colorful Mexican houses 🏡
– Ancient pyramids 🗿
– …and yes, a rare moment of me lifting coffee cans and sugar containers for a hotel-room workout. (No dumbbells, no jogging — still recovering from a broken ankle! But hey, we adapt!) 💪😂

Looking at the pics, I did notice one thing: my butt disappeared. Completely. Probably depressed after the whole car accident drama. But at least my spirits were lifted, even if my glutes were not. 😅

I’m deeply grateful to my family for organizing this unforgettable trip and pulling me away from the grind — constant legal work, nonstop CPA study sessions, always trying to make more money to support everyone and everything. This trip reminded me how important it is to just live.

Spending time in Mexico also brought back warm memories from the early days of my law practice — back when we lived in East Orange surrounded by amazing Spanish-speaking families who became my very first clients. With almost no experience, they still trusted me with their divorces and custody cases. Thanks to their faith in me, I slowly became… well, not famous, but at least noticeable in the Orange County courtrooms — a Russian-speaking lawyer with a German last name and Hispanic clientele. 😄

A lot of attorneys struggle these days, but I was blessed — that community opened the doors to my career, and I’ll never forget that.

After being dramatically hit by a car (don’t worry, I gave the car a stern lecture), I’ve been laying low with my foot in a boot and my pride in a sling. But today is too special to stay invisible — even if I’m only 70% mobile and still doing the elegant “crutch shuffle” when needed.

So here I am, celebrating Mother’s Day with my two incredible sons who’ve been my emotional support team, part-time nurses, and full-time snack smugglers 💕 Plus, a surprise visit from a dear friend who came all the way from Maryland. And of course... cake 🍰 (Proof attached in photos!)
