Mental health care should be focused on dignity and not coercion.
California is considering changes to CARE Court that we among many peer advocates, disability rights organizations, and mental health leaders believe could expand court involvement while weakening privacy and self-determination for people seeking care.

Together, we can advocate for a mental health system that supports people with compassion, respect, and choice.
We headed to the California State Capitol alongside MHAC and several of their programs to speak out against the Governor’s proposed May Revise Budget, which includes a $6.7 million to behavioral health services and policies that could limit access to Medi-Cal benefits, reduce funding for community-based organizations, and make it harder for people to receive the care they need. 🫂💚
Advocacy isn’t just policy discussions and meetings. It’s building relationships and raising our voices as we advocate for those we serve.
