Catholic Daily Reflection for Today – Sunday, October 19, 2025
29th Sunday in Ordinary Time,
Year B

Gospel: Mark 10:35–45
Theme: Greatness Through Service

Gospel Verse:
Whoever wants to be first among you must be the servant of all.
Mark 10:44

Reflection:
In today’s Gospel, James and John ask Jesus for places of honor in His glory. But Jesus shifts their focus: in the Kingdom of God, greatness is not measured by power, but by humble service.

Jesus came not to be served, but to serve — even to the point of giving His life. He calls each of us to follow His example: to be servants, not seekers of status.

Today, reflect: Am I living for recognition or to serve with love? True greatness in God’s eyes comes from the heart that gives without expecting anything back.

Let us Pray:
Lord Jesus,
Teach me to serve as You served —
With humility, patience, and love.
Free me from pride and make me a true disciple.
Amen.

Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like Yours.
St. Joseph, humble worker, pray for us.

Catholic Daily Reflection for Today Saturday, October 18, 2025
Feast: St. Luke the Evangelist (Feast Day)

Gospel: Luke 10:1–9
Theme: Sent with a Mission of Peace

Gospel Verse:
The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.
Luke 10:2

Reflection:
Today we celebrate St. Luke, the beloved physician, evangelist, and author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. Luke was a faithful companion to St. Paul and a man deeply devoted to spreading the message of Christ.

In the Gospel, Jesus sends out 72 disciples with a mission: to bring peace, heal the sick, and proclaim the Kingdom of God. Like Luke, each of us is also sent — maybe not to far-off places, but into our families, communities, and daily encounters.

You don’t need a pulpit to evangelize. A kind word, a patient heart, or a silent prayer for someone in need can be powerful. Be a laborer in God’s harvest field today.

Let us Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
Send me out with Your peace and love.
May I be a faithful witness like St. Luke,
Spreading Your Word through how I live.
Amen.

St. Luke the Evangelist, pray for us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
