There’s a common misconception that Realtors are just after the money. I understand where that idea comes from. Bad experiences exist, and they tend to speak louder than the good ones.

But if Realtors were just after the money, this would be the hardest scam ever.

The truth is, Realtors don’t get paid unless a deal actually closes. That means hours, sometimes weeks, of work can happen with no paycheck at all, much of it behind the scenes before anyone ever gets paid.

For buyers, that often looks like eating meals in the car to make it to showings, rearranging schedules at the last minute, late-night listing searches, rewriting offers, and touring homes that never become “the one.”

For sellers, it can mean research on pricing and timing, honest conversations about staging, coordinating photography and marketing, and spending our own money upfront before a home even hits the market.

Are there bad agents? Yes, just like in any profession. But a good Realtor isn’t a salesperson. They’re a guide, negotiator, and problem-solver, helping protect people through one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.

Not every Realtor is the same. And that’s exactly why who you hire matters.
