We’ve shared Reina’s story a few times recently, but we appreciated this article from 256 Today for highlighting another often-overlooked perspective: caregivers.
While the story began with a wheelchair ramp for our 7-year-old client, it is also about grandparents navigating the daily physical and emotional responsibilities of caregiving. At Enable Madison County, caregivers are often a major part of our client communication, care coordination, and ongoing support systems.
It’s a reminder that the impact of services like ramps, fall prevention, deliveries, and weatherization often extends beyond the individual client. These services also support the family members and caregivers, helping loved ones remain safely at home.
Thank you to 256 Today for sharing this side of the story and to the volunteers from the Redstone Arsenal Silver Chapter of the US Army Warrant Officer Association who helped make the project possible.
