Our young men had a special opportunity to learn from Coach Kendrick Epps, Athletics Director at Kingdom Heights Preparatory School, during a “Dress to Be Addressed” session at HLC.

Coach Epps shared practical guidance on how to present yourself with confidence, respect, and professionalism, including:

🤝 Firm handshakes during introductions
👀 Making eye contact
🧍🏾 Proper posture
👔 How to tie a tie
👕 The importance of a neatly pressed shirt
👞 Clean, polished shoes

At HLC, we love giving our campers opportunities to build skills that go beyond the classroom. These moments help prepare them to show up with confidence, character, and pride wherever they go next.

Kingdom Heights Prepatory School

Today was a bittersweet day at the Huntsville Learning Center as our beloved Pet Partner, AJ, made his final visit before a well-earned retirement at 12 years old.

For years, AJ has faithfully encouraged our students by listening as they read, building confidence, and sharing unconditional love.

The campers sent him off in style by creating a special book filled with heartfelt notes and all the reasons they think he’s such a good dog. AJ celebrated with bone-shaped cookies, his very own Chick-fil-A Pup Cup, and plenty of love from his biggest fans.

Thank you to Denise, AJ’s wonderful handler, for sharing him so generously with our students and for the encouragement she shared with the campers today. While AJ will be greatly missed, we’re grateful that our partnership with Heart to Heart Pet Partners will continue through many of their amazing canine reading companions.

Happy retirement, AJ! Thank you for making a lasting difference in the lives of our students. You will always be a very good boy. 🐾❤️

Big ideas deserve a little celebration. ✨

Tiffany Draper-Coles returned to present gift cards to our campers after they pitched their business ideas with confidence and boldness! One camper received $100, and four others received $25 each.

We are so proud of the creativity, courage, and confidence they showed as they shared their ideas — and so grateful to Tiffany for encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Our middle schoolers took on a heat index of 105° today...and thanks to the incredible generosity of Tony Zaborszki and Zabco Products Inc, they won! ☀️💦🍉

What wasn’t originally a water day turned into an unforgettable afternoon complete with a giant human slip-and-slide, more than 1,000 water balloons, water blasters, pool noodle battles, and, of course, ice-cold watermelon to help everyone cool off.

Days like this remind us that some of the best camp memories are the ones you never see coming. Thank you, Tony and Zabco Products, for making it happen! 💚

A huge thank you to Element Dance Company for providing hip-hop enrichment for our middle school students during summer camp!

Today, they welcomed us into their incredible studio in Owens Cross Roads, where our students experienced all the things you would expect from a top-of-the-line dance studio—professional dance floors, wall-to-wall mirrors, high-quality sound systems, multiple studio spaces, and an atmosphere that inspires creativity and confidence.

Our students had an amazing time learning new skills, building confidence, and expressing themselves through dance. We are so grateful for this partnership and can’t wait to showcase everything they’ve learned at our end-of-camp performance! 💃🕺🎶
