Author and Speaker
Renee penned her first non-fiction memoir, Always My Hero, based on the life and tragic death of her beloved, slightly older and wiser brother, United States Marine, Major Samuel M. Griffith. Sam was killed in Afghanistan in combat in 2011, which ultimately changed the course of Renee’s life. Not only is Renee a Gold Star Sister, but she is a military spouse to her darling husband of 19 years. She loves all things patriotic, military, and supports military families. Renee has four children; three daughters and a son.
Before moving to North Carolina, Renee has served as an active member of her former church in Fort Worth, Texas and has served in youth ministry, as well as hosting small group studies in her home. She spends her time every year in Jupiter, Florida where her parents hold an annual golf tournament in her brother’s memory, which helps to raise support for the Renewal Coalition and service members wounded in combat. She loves all types of music, but her heart is Christian and Country music, romantic comedies, musicals, and theatre. She typically has at least five books going at any one time and loves to learn as much as her time allows. Renee has learned to appreciate those things that help the heart heal and stories that inspire. A quality she shared with her brother, and a prerequisite for any close friend, is her love of laughter-for it truly is the best medicine.
