SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
'For whatever things were written before, were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope' (Romans 15:4)
LESSON:
One of the cardinal functions of Scripture is to provide comfort and hope for the believer going through trials and tribulations.
Though these moments can be extremely challenging, we are deeply encouraged by examples from Scripture of believers who held on to God in the midst of unimaginable suffering and came out victorious.
The stories of Job, Hannah, Joseph, Sarah, Daniel, Jabez, the three Hebrew boys, among others, are written so we may learn of God's faithfulness. If God did it for them, we have hope and assurance He will also do it for us. Coupled with the very encouraging promises from God's Word, we are comforted in the midst of our trials .... knowing and being convinced that the afflictions will end, and that a glorious future ordained by God awaits us.
