Tony Sommer For Independence City Council

Because of the number of doors I've knocked on, there may be nobody with a better idea of what the voting public in Independence is thinking than me. That's why I've been trying to tell decision makers that the GO Bond is not going to be easy to pass.

This result from the citizens survey confirms the sentiment I've gotten from the doors. Other than streets (which is a major priority of voters), in the survey none of the items in the GO Bond received the 57% they'd need to pass in a vote.

As I said in the 2nd candidate forum hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, the political elites in Independence that are so excited for the GO Bond but who are backing Councilman Perkins are shooting themselves in the foot. If we want to get this passed, we're going to need a city council that people can trust, and who will be willing to do the hard work of going out and getting the public excited about it.
