Research presented this week at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference highlights the growing promise of targeting tau — a protein closely linked to Alzheimer's disease — alongside advances in blood tests that may one day help identify people at higher risk before symptoms appear. Together with this week's research on brain-healthy lifestyle interventions, new risk reduction studies and improved diagnosis, the picture is becoming increasingly clear: progress is accelerating across every stage of the disease.
As Alzheimer's Association Chief Science Officer Maria Carrillo said, "We're beginning to prepare for what that future is going to look like, and it's exciting."
