Safety starts with awareness, preparation, and care. During National Safety Month, we’re committed to creating healthier, safer communities for our residents, families, and team members every day. 💙

STEADI, Stopping Elderly Accidents Deaths and Injuries, shares vital resources to prevent falls and improve health outcomes. STEADI recommends three key elements to preventing injury; screen patients for fall risks, access modifiable risk factors, intervene to reduce risk by using effective clinical and community strategies.

Team,

As National Nurses Week is celebrated on May 6th, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to be a nurse—and more importantly, what it means to be a nurse at Sunterra Springs.

I did not start my career as a nurse. I started as a CNA, learning what it meant to show up for people in some of their most vulnerable moments. That foundation has never left me. It shaped how I see this profession and how deeply I respect the work each of you do every single day.

Nursing is not just a job. It’s early mornings and late nights. It’s catching something small before it becomes something big. It’s advocating when no one else is speaking up. It’s sitting with someone when there’s nothing left to fix—but everything left to give.

Across our continuum, I see nurses showing up in ways that matter. You are coordinating care, leading teams, supporting families, preventing hospitalizations, and creating moments of dignity and comfort that people will never forget.

You are the reason our residents feel safe.
You are the reason families trust us.
You are the reason we are able to do what we do.

I also know this work isn’t easy. It asks a lot of you—emotionally, physically, and mentally. And yet, you continue to show up with compassion, professionalism, and strength.

This week, I just want to say thank you.
Thank you for the care you provide. Thank you for the leadership you show. Thank you for the difference you make—often in ways that no one else sees.
I am incredibly proud to be part of this team and to serve alongside you.

With extreme gratitude,

Megan
Chief Nursing Officer
