Think about that one. Sure, you want the speed on the sire side for sure, but a great sire needs a great speed female family ... and that's not just a generation or two back. True breeders of racehorses understand you need that old foundation speed in a top notch sire's bottom side.
Take a look at the extended family of the stallion you're considering. Does his female family (leave the sire line out) go back to the great ones: Depth Charge, Three Bars, Vandy, Top Deck, Leo, Clabber, Bull Dog, Peter McCue and King?
Very few do ....
