Here we GROW again! 20 Moms & Dads (plus their kiddos!) kicked off our new Getting Ahead session last week at Wingate Baptist Church!!

It was the largest first session we've had in a long time and we can't wait to hear about their 'ah ha' moments as they investigate poverty in our community and their own lives.

"How did you know it was my Birthday?" ~Timmy, 8, said after seeing a Birthday cake included in his food pantry box

Timmy just turned 8 years old but there were no presents, no cake and no decorations. His mom said they didn't have the money to celebrate, and it broke her heart.

While picking up groceries at our food pantry at Wingate Baptist Church Timmy (and his Mom) were shocked to see a Birthday cake and lots of kid-friendly foods being loaded into their car by volunteers. He just had to ask our volunteers: "How did you know it was my Birthday?" ❤
