Ivy Tech Indianapolis alumna Kaylee Harris is proving that women belong in the trades – and that unexpected pivots can rewrite futures. An art student on the cusp of burnout, she passed a welding program flyer and thought, 'why not?' A class she took for fun reshaped her career trajectory, as she found success and empowerment in the welding lab. A 2022 graduate of the program, she landed a job quickly and has since found home at a welding shop she loves. The path she once saw as a backup plan has become her foundation.
