Today we celebrate Juneteenth — a day that commemorates freedom and marks June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally informed that they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our history, honor resilience and progress, celebrate culture and achievement, and continue building a future rooted in opportunity and equality.

Freedom is worth remembering, celebrating, and protecting.
