This is 32 year old Maria Florinda Rios Perez. The mother of 4 was shot and killed in Whitestown on Wednesday when she showed up to clean a home but was given the wrong address, relatives said.

The homeowner shot through the door at Maria. An autopsy by the Boone County Coroner’s Office determined the manner of death was homicide and that the cause was a gunshot wound to the head.

The Boone County Prosecutor’s Office said the coroner’s ruling does not determine whether the homeowner will be criminally charged. Whitestown police has completed its investigation. All evidence is now in the hands of a prosecutor who will make a decision on whether or not to file charges against the homeowner sometime next week. Indiana has a “Stand Your Ground” which Boone County Prosectuor, Kent Eastwood, tells me makes the situation complicated. Updates will come next week.
