Old brow work doesn’t always mean you’re out of options.

My client came in with faded red microblading and a little scarring from previous work from another artist. Instead of trying to force hair strokes where they weren’t the best option, we chose powder brows.

Why?

Bc powder brows provide more even coverage over old pigment, work better for her skin and will give her a softer, more balanced healed result🥰

The goal isn’t to use the most popular technique. It’s to choose the one that gives you the best long-term result.

This was her first time getting permanent brows, so we kept things conservative. We added soft nano hair strokes where her brows were thin and followed her natural hair pattern.

I would rather start a little lighter and smaller bc we can always add more at the touch-up. It’s much harder to take away.

Her goal was simple: stop filling in her brows every day and not over done.

Safe to say they even got the friend approval. 🙌🏼

Permanent makeup isn’t one-size-fits-all. Skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure and aftercare all affect how brows heal and fade over time.

While results vary, this is a great example of how PMU can remain visible for years and be refreshed when needed.

Not everyone with previous brow work is a candidate for hair strokes.

Hair strokes are meant to heal soft and feathery. If old ink is too dark or saturated, there’s no room left in the skin to create that natural look. Stacking light strokes over heavy ink usually doesn’t heal well long term.

Luckily, her previous work was light enough for us to create a softer nano hair stroke look without it looking too heavy 🙌🏼

These will heal about 30-40% lighter, and we’ll reinforce anything needed at the touch up.

This is why I’m picky about doing hair strokes over old work. The goal is healed results that still look natural long term and 🙅🏻‍♀️not just good the day you leave.
