IndyGo to Host Next Round of Blue Line Public Meetings as It Nears Design Completion
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 15, 2023) — As the Blue Line bus rapid transit (BRT) route nears design completion, IndyGo plans to solicit community feedback through a series of in-person public meetings Dec. 5-7.
The meetings will be structured like open houses and will not include a formal presentation. However, they will include a project display area and time for individuals to have direct conversations with IndyGo staff about the project.
Through these meetings, IndyGo is seeking feedback on how to better understand business and residential property access and ways to reduce the overall impacts during construction.
Leading up to and throughout Blue Line construction, IndyGo is offering businesses the opportunity to sign up for one-on-one meetings, where staff can answer questions, review map design plans and address individual concerns. Businesses can register for these meetings online here.
In August, IndyGo provided a status update for the Blue Line, sharing how the agency brought the project’s cost estimates down to numbers more in line with available funding after prices ballooned due to inflation and stormwater requirements. The update included information about the agency continuing to progress the Blue Line design while maintaining components from previous BRT projects and modifications being made to reduce the project’s cost.
The Blue Line is the third of IndyGo’s three planned bus rapid transit lines. The 24-mile project will provide rapid transit along Washington Street between Cumberland and the airport and will improve and replace the existing Route 8.
