Last month, community leaders, neighbors, friends, and family gathered to kick off the campaign to re-elect Prosecutor Mears.

It was a room full of people who believe justice should be steady, thoughtful, and rooted in community.

It was an honor to have Councilor there to speak, not just as a colleague, but as a friend who has seen Prosecutor Mears’ leadership and commitment to this community up close.

Here’s a look back at an energized night of connection, momentum, and celebration.

It was a privilege to join Indiana Progressive Democrats and share the stage with fellow panelist Karla Lopez Owens and Megan Anne Alderman who moderated.

Together, we explored how smart criminal justice policy, community quality of life, and meaningful voter engagement are not separate conversations. Public safety, trust in our institutions, and civic participation rise and fall as one.

When we get justice right and it’s fair, focused, and rooted in community, our neighborhoods are stronger. When people feel heard and protected, they show up. And when they show up, democracy works the way it’s supposed to.
