***IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR OUR DACA CLIENTS***

If you have filed your DACA renewal, you will very likely receive a biometrics appointment (fingerprints and photograph) at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC). This is a change from the procedures of the last several years

~Why is this happening now?~

During the COVID-19 pandemic, USCIS closed its offices and stopped scheduling biometrics appointments. Instead, the agency reused the fingerprints and photographs it already had on file from previous appointments. This practice continued for several years.
However, on December 12, 2025, USCIS issued a new policy (Alert PA-2025-29) that limits the reuse of biometric photographs to a maximum of 36 months (3 years). This means that if your last biometrics appointment was more than 3 years ago, as is the case for the vast majority of DACA recipients, USCIS will schedule a new mandatory appointment for you.

~What you need to know:~

• If you receive a biometrics appointment notice, you MUST attend. Failing to attend can result in the DENIAL of your DACA renewal.

• Bring a valid photo ID and your appointment notice to your appointment.

• Biometrics appointments are adding extra time to renewal processing. File your renewal 120 to 150 days before your current DACA expires. Contact BKR around six (6) months before expiration of your DACA.

• If you cannot attend on the scheduled date, contact USCIS BEFORE your appointment to reschedule. Do not simply fail to show up.

• There are no reports of ICE arrests at biometrics appointments. These appointments take place at Application Support Centers, not ICE offices.
