Our Story
Engine Books was founded in 2011 as a woman-run, woman-friendly press. Each year, at least half of our titles are authored by women. Our books have been reviewed in the New York Times; O, the Oprah Magazine; Washington Post; People; Entertainment Weekly; Kirkus Reviews; Publishers Weekly; Booklist; Library Journal; and more, and have been finalists and winners in national awards. We are distributed by Consortium Book Sales and Distribution, a subsidiary of Ingram Distribution. Titles are available in bookstores throughout the U.S. and Canada.
For submission information, visit enginebooks.org, and please read the submission guidelines carefully. Send us work will we love. We want to say yes. Now through 2/15/19, submit to our Fiction Prize, judged by Susan Perabo: http://enginebooks.org/_source/home.html.
In 2019, Engine Books has become a subsidiary of a new nonprofit organization, Engine Books Literary Works, which will help stabilize the press for the long term. EB is no longer a one-woman show! Support our efforts to grow and to build a new editing and publishing education program at https://squareup.com/store/enginebooks/item/donation.
