When I talk to some business owners about landing press for their business, they often have some fears and misconceptions about what that means.

They fear that they will have to say things that aren’t in integrity with who they are.

They worry that they will have to be or present themselves as someone they are not to land coverage.

Fortunately, neither of these is the truth.

Landing earned media coverage actually requires the opposite. When focusing on building media relations or pitching yourself to the press, you want to represent yourself as truthfully and accurately as possible and ensure all statements are the same.

I believe that business owners have an obligation to their customers to practice ethical marketing and public relations practices, including avoiding puffery or misrepresentation of what a product does or what it helps a person achieve.

While this is important in all business sectors, I believe it's essential in the health, wellness, and fitness sectors because the well-being and health of your customers are in your hands.
