Big news for Indiana's general aviation industry!
Aviation Indiana applauds Governor Mike Braun for proclaiming June as General Aviation Appreciation Month, recognizing the vital role general aviation airports play in connecting communities, supporting economic growth, strengthening emergency services, and developing the next generation of aviation professionals and pilots.
Indiana by the Numbers:
🔹 Generates $1.4 billion in annual economic impact
🔹 Supports more than 11,000 jobs and over $548 million in payroll
🔹 Home to 127 public-use airports serving 12,554 pilots and 4,992 registered aircraft
🔹 Includes 51 FAA-certified repair stations
🔹 Features 19 FAA-approved flight schools
🔹 Supports 4,546 student pilots and 2,070 flight instructors
From rural communities to major business centers, Indiana's general aviation airports are essential transportation hubs, economic drivers, and gateways to aviation careers. This proclamation highlights the incredible impact our airports, businesses, pilots, mechanics, educators, and aviation advocates have on communities across the state.
As we celebrate General Aviation Appreciation Month, we encourage Hoosiers to learn more about the airports in their communities and the opportunities aviation creates every day. Together, we're building a stronger future for aviation in Indiana.
