In honor of Fiberglass Freaks' Batman Museum's one year anniversary, we are proud to announce that the #4 George Barris-built dragster 1966 Batmobile will be on display the month of October, 2025. If you've never seen any of the four George Barris-built 1966 Batmobiles, you owe it to yourself to make the trip to Logansport, Indiana, to do so.

Barris made a mold of the #1 car and cast three replica car bodies in fiberglass in “one long weekend.” The replicas differed from the 1955 Lincoln Futura screen-used #1 Batmobile in numerous ways: the dashboards were made of curved steel, covered in black vinyl. The headlight buckets and tail light buckets were capped. The seats had no chrome surrounds, and the door panels had no chrome trim. The beacon lights were much larger, two lamp styled lights, often without beacon cages. The trim on the windshields was black rubber.

The #4 dragster was a souped up car that was used for exhibitions on the drag strip circuit. “Wild” Bill Shrewsberry drove the car at Muholland and several other strips across the country. The #4 car had a working flamethrower and working parachutes. The #4 was the only one of the three fiberglass cars that was screen-used. While the #1 was out for repair, the #4 was used in a Mad Hatter episode, “The Contaminated Cowl,” in the Batcave.

George Barris sold the car in 1975-76 to JJ Born, of the Chicago Antique Auto Museum. It sold to an unknown buyer in 1984-ish. He rented the car to the Gatlinburg “Believe It Or Not Museum” for a year or so, then it was housed in the Nashville Cars of the Stars Museum for about ten-twelve years. It sold in 1998 to R. Spencer of Florida, who sold it to the current owner.

Fiberglass Freaks was hired by the current owner to do a full restoration of the interior and exterior of the car, to bring it back to its original 1967 look.

The #4 dragster Barris-built 1966 Batmobile will be on display at the Fiberglass Freaks' Batman Museum the entire month of October, 2025. The museum is open 12-5, Tuesday through Friday, and 12-6 on Saturday.

Holy artistic entrepreneur!

Artist William Hood will be selling beautiful prints and talking all things art at the Fiberglass Freaks' Batman Museum in downtown Logansport, Indiana, on Saturday, July 19th, 2025. The museum is open from 12-6 on Saturday, and William will be joining us for the entire six hours. If you would like to learn how to draw comic book-style art, he would be happy to show you how.

William Hood is an illustrator living in Louisville, KY. He has been drawing, or at least trying to draw, since he could hold a crayon. As a lifelong pop culture geek William began creating his own comics, started a publishing company, and now makes art for the masses, William offers art prints based on comics, sci-fi, TV and movies, horror, and everything in between. Come meet him at the Batman Museum. Shake his hand, buy some art, and have some fun!
