Tony Mazzocchi was a labor leader and environmentalist who championed workers’ health and safety, playing a key role in pushing for the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in 1970. Mazzocchi also helped link the labor and environmental movements, coining the idea of a “just transition” for workers affected by environmental policies.
Today, the USW Tony Mazzocchi Center (USWTMC) helps workers stay safe on the job by providing training on health, safety, and environmental hazards. Through partnerships with various groups, the USWTMC works to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and hazardous exposures across industries.
