Collaborative Counseling and Nutrition
Outpatient counseling center in Indianapolis specializing in nutrition therapy and body image.
Schools see kids every day. Which means they often notice when something’s off. 👀
In this week’s episode, we sit down with CCN therapist and former school counselor Michelle Butler, LCSW, to talk about the role schools actually play in supporting student mental health. From connecting families to resources to being another safe adult in a student’s corner, school counselors are often a key part of a student’s support system.
We also talk about how school environments can shape body image and eating disorder risk — and how humor, joy, and real connection can make schools safer places for kids to grow. ✨

Not every conflict is about what was said — often it’s about whether we felt heard, safe, and understood. 🧠💬
In this episode, we sit down with couples therapist Sara Blacklidge, LPCC, to talk about what actually helps communication work:
• how reflective listening can completely shift a conversation
• why emotional regulation matters more than “saying it perfectly”
• and the powerful shift from focusing on intent to focusing on impact
Whether you’re navigating conflict, trying to express a need, or simply want healthier relationship patterns, this conversation offers practical tools you can start using today. 🤝✨

GLP-1 medications are being prescribed in healthcare systems that rarely screen for eating disorders, even though more than 90% of people with EDs are not underweight.
👉🏼That means many people struggling with restriction, binge-restrict cycles, food preoccupation, or body image distress may be labeled “good candidates” without a full picture of risk.
The eating disorder community cannot be an afterthought in the GLP-1 conversation.
We need:
• routine ED screening before prescribing
•how food noise language can mask disordered eating symptoms
• recognition that EDs happen in bodies of all sizes
• real informed consent — not just marketing language
🗣️ This isn’t about whether these medications should exist.
It’s about whether people are being properly assessed and protected. 🫶🏻

🎶 We’re super excited to introduce a new offering here at CCN — a 12-week music therapy support group focused on body image and fat liberation, led by music therapist Wren Buse.
🎼This group blends music, reflection, embodiment, and community to support people who want to explore their relationship with their body in a different way — especially if traditional talk therapy hasn’t always felt like the right fit.
🎹No musical experience needed. Just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore.
Starting February 21 | Saturdays at 10:30am

This time of year asks a lot of us.
To reset. To optimize. To be different than we were.
🎧This playlist offers a different invitation:
to pause, to feel, to listen — without needing to improve or perform.
✨Curated by our music therapist Wren, this collection centers self-worth and embodiment, creating space for whatever shows up rather than pushing it away.
🎵Wren is also leading an upcoming music therapy support group for anyone wanting to explore this work more deeply. Details, playlist, and group info are on the blog.
