June is National Safety Month, an observance started in 1996 by the National Safety Council to promote safety “from the workplace to anyplace.” According to the NSC, preventable injuries are the leading cause of death in the U.S. We can help keep each other safe.

In the early hours of his shift at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola, Ron B., Powerplant Operator, heard unexpected sounds coming from the pit of a cooling tower under demolition. Upon further investigation, he found that a small, very frightened dog had fallen in and was unable to escape. Ron grabbed a ladder and quickly removed the animal, who was unhurt.

Care and concern for all creatures, human or animal, is an important aspect of the work done at the hospital. Thank you, Ron, for your heart and eagerness to serve others. 🐶🫶
