It’s my first time flying Volaris and first time flying to Mexico! I had a layover in Mexico City and checked out the Centurion Lounge for chilaquiles and mimosas in the domestic terminal.

Misc review of Volaris: I read horror stories of flying with Volaris but I think as long as you know you’re flying budget- you know what you’re going to get. You won’t be surprised by all the up-charges. I found their customer service pleasant after I found that Volaris changed and delayed my flight by one day. I called customer service and they helped get me back on a flight for my original date and near enough the time I needed to land by! He also gave me credit towards additional services on the flight (purchase seats, baggage allowance, etc) since I had paid for it on the prior flight. There was no hassle to make the changes or get the credit.

Volaris Tip 1: don’t check a bag. It’s $$ and the bag drop line was RIDICULOUS. I gratefully only packed a personal item and a carry on! Packing light made the transfer/immigration in Mexico City a breeze. However, navigating my way through that airport to my connecting flight was a pain! There were practically no signs for the Volaris desk, gate, terminal, etc. I couldn’t remember any of my high school Spanish to use for help. I finally stumbled upon the correct spot after wandering aimlessly.

Tip 2: if you have a carry-on that needs to go in an overhead bin, pay extra to get group one boarding or get lined up early. The group two line was SO long. Group three is ok if you already have an assigned seat and you can stick your one personal item under your seat.

Tip 3: if you are tall or just need space, buy a seat in the exit row, front row, or first couple rows for the extra leg room. I sat in the “regular” sized seats and it was tiny and I’ve got short legs!
