Thank you to the people who always think of me and invite me to the table. To the photographers who capture me on every red carpet. And to my fellow actresses, producers, directors, and filmmakers who continue to consider me for opportunities.
I wanted to make sure that I shared a peek behind the velvet rope and some behind-the-scenes moments from Essence Black Women in Hollywood as I know how deeply it inspired me for years before I was ever a working actress in Hollywood or an invited guest—this a room that absolutely still blows me away with it’s magic every single time✨
One moment that stayed with me was hearing share about her experience on set learning and being guided alongside one of my absolute favorite actresses, the incomparable this is what is genuinely all about —the kind of support that changes everything.
Last year, I auditioned for a role that was directed by Regina, whom I deeply admire. When I didn’t book it, she personally called me, poured into me, and reminded me that our time will come. I believe that. Fully.
I pray this inspires you—keep going. Your moment is on the way.
