Several folks responded to this and for some reason it is not showing up anymore. If you responded, please contact me again. I am trying to figure out how many kids I can sponsor.
I have numerous kids needing help with school clothes and shoes. If you could help, please text me at 864-706-9470. Thanks.
Update and Huge Praise!!! As I shared last night about getting a call from the District 6 liaison about a family she was working with that had just been evicted and were literally out on the streets with nowhere to go and she had tried everything she knew to get help and called me to see if there was anything that I could do to help, although she knew I had retired the end of December, but felt led to call me anyway. I just really felt God calling me to "step out of retirement" to help. Shortly after I shared I had several people that responded and wanted to help. So today with their help we were able to commit to pay another week for each one of the rooms, they had to get two rooms because the motel would not allow six people in one room. And possibly might have enough for the third week which would take them up to the point of them getting their taxes back and at that time be able to find another place to live. Ted also went today and picked up the brand new beds that the district had just given them 3 weeks ago so they would not be thrown away and we will store them until they find another home. When I went to pick up the money from one of the people that wanted to help pay a week, she had put extra in there and I was going to use that for food for the family. I had visited with the family this morning and felt really led to go to Walmart on the east side of town and get food for this family because their food stamps did not start until the end of next week. I knew in my head how much I had to spend and I had said well if I go over I will just put the extra in myself. So my buggy is full and I'm starting to check out at the self checkout when the sweet lady comes over that works there and says let me get you another buggy so you don't have to put these bags in the floor until you get everything out of your buggy and I told her that would be awesome. She noticed that I was not double bagging and noticed that a couple of the bags were tearing and said let's double bag these and I laughingly said that would be great because this is all going to a family living in a motel and I sure don't want their food rolling around out the parking lot. She asked me if I was from a church and I shared with her that I had had a Ministry for almost 30 years and had retired at the end of December but I felt God had called me to get involved with this family today and that's why I was doing what I was doing. At this point she said would you please let me use my debit card and pay for all of this food to which I responded you do not have to do that and she said no I want to do this for this family. She said my husband died in August and I have really not gotten back in church yet and I have not been tithing and I want to buy this food for this family. I was amazed and we both look at each other and said there's no doubt God put us together today in order for this to happen. I was able to spend the extra to go by Bojangles and get this family a big family pack of hot food so they could have some hot food for supper and possibly lunch tomorrow. When I got back to the motel I had all six of them to come out to my van and shared what God had just done and share my testimony with them of what God had done in my life when he saved me. They were so grateful and so appreciative and recognized that God had worked all of this out for them. I cannot begin to tell you what the last 24 hours has meant to me to see that God is letting me know that although I may be officially retired that he is not finished working through me in situations like this. I know it will not be a full-time commitment but I am open to wherever he leads me and I cannot express the joy that it was and being able to be a part of what God did in this family's life with the help of the precious women that reached out and helped, and you know who you are and I pray that God will bring big blessings on your life for your willingness to always step up and help when I ask.
As I begin 2024 in a totally new season of life, life without ministering thru PK Outreach, I feel a bit lost. Not sure what retirement will look like for me, but I know that the past 28 1\2 years of ministry have been one of the biggest blessings of my life. When God called me into ministry many, many years ago, I had no idea how long it would last or what it would look like. I never could have imagined the highs, the lows, the tears, the burdens, the laughs, the heartaches, the long days, the worrying about children in danger, the miracles I got to witness, being a part of women and children coming to know and serve the Lord, late night phone calls from young moms ready to give up, talking to single dads about their role as a father, nights crying with a mom who felt all alone and scared of the future.....I could go on and on. But thru it all, God was faithful!! First He blessed me with a husband that not only supported my calling, but was my biggest cheerleader and helper all these years and children and grandchildren that also were behind me 100%. Grandsons that got involved helping their Papa and me pick up and deliver items to needy families. He used so many of you to make this ministry possible( you know who you are) and once again I appreciate you and feel such gratitude for your part in making a desire in my heart become reality. God put amazing people in my life, amazing churches that supported me, pastors that believed in what I was doing, businessmen that walked beside me financially, Circle 555 and SC Christian Foundation that supported me not only financially for years thru grants, but prayer also, individuals that gave throughout the years when asked or gave because God lead them to, folks that donated items that made a difference in a family's life, cars that were donated that literally changed a person's life, prayer warriors that covered me in prayer, amazing board members that were always willing to listen and give godly advice...the blessings have been too many to count...but each one made it all possible. I praise God for the call on my life, for carrying me thru times when I had doubts and wondered what I was doing, for meeting every single need by using faithful people that believed in the ministry. I have friends that I would have never met that will forever be in my life. Again, not sure what the future holds, but I definitely know who holds my future. God bless each of you and Happy New Year!!
