Cancer Teamwork Response
Cancer Teamwork Response provides guidance to help individuals and families navigate complex healthcare decisions.
Last year, we talked about building a stronger healthcare community one where people step up when the system feels fragmented, overwhelming, or out of reach.
At the Cancer Teamwork Response event on November 8, that vision came to life through many voices.
Among them was Duncan, who spoke in honor of his mother, Kelly Duncan-Joiner, and his family’s experience with cancer. Her journey, and the support they found through Cancer Teamwork Response, inspired him to share his story and step forward as our youth spokesperson.
This moment wasn’t about retelling a diagnosis. It was about what comes after loss: choosing to speak up, show up, and help others feel less alone.
Through the voices shared at this event, and through Duncan’s words, we saw what a stronger healthcare community looks like in action: individuals using their voices to create connection, understanding, and support for others facing similar moments.
As we move into 2026 and begin to introduce our LIVE LOUD message, this moment stands as an early expression of what that means to us: living with intention, honoring those who shaped us, and sharing our stories in ways that help others move forward.
We’re grateful to Duncan for speaking, to his family for their trust in CTR, and to everyone who continues to strengthen a healthcare community built on guidance, compassion, and connection.

As we close out the year, we’re pausing to reflect on what community truly means.
Over the past five years, Cancer Teamwork Response has had the privilege of assisting more than 1,000 patients and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. None of this happens in isolation.
Our work lives at the intersection of patients, families, physicians, hospitals, and supporters, people who step in when the healthcare system feels overwhelming, fragmented, or out of reach.
In 2025, CTR remained laser-focused on strengthening this community. As healthcare shortages grow and pathways to diagnosis and care become more complex, collaboration is no longer optional, it’s essential. We believe better outcomes happen when people work together, share knowledge, and support one another through uncertainty.
Thank you to every patient who trusted us, every medical professional who partnered with us, and every supporter who made this work possible. We move into the new year committed to guiding, connecting, and building a stronger healthcare community, together.
Happy Holidays from the team at CTR!

Mike Garson, David Bowie’s piano man, personally asked Veronica Swift to join him on vocals on November 8 at the Soka Performing Arts Center, Orange County, and for good reason. Hailed by The Wall Street Journal as a “miraculous voice” with an “innate gift for entertaining a crowd,” Veronica is a powerhouse performer who will bring Bowie’s spirit and soul to life on stage.
