The Golden Minutes only matter if you can actually reach your AED in time.

In an emergency, every second spent searching for a device or running to another floor is a second lost. One of the most common mistakes we see is AEDs being treated like fire extinguishers—tucked away in a corner or hidden behind a desk where nobody can see them.

Our veterans at FC Safety always recommend the "three-minute rule." You should be able to get to your AED, bring it back to the person, and have it turned on within three minute of the collapse.

If your facility is large or has multiple levels, one device might not be enough to meet that window. Take a walk through your office today and time yourself. If you cannot make it there and back in under three minutes, it is time to rethink your placement.

Safety is not just about having the right gear. It is about making sure that gear is exactly where it needs to be when it matters most.
