Much Ado About Writing

Today is an emotional day for me... I tend to hide in my own cocoon… I don’t want to deal with anything or anyone, and those of you who know me know this about me... Every year, I long to escape November 8th. Never to come face to face with it again, but every year it plagues me... It is the day I lost my daddy and gran... It was a haunting day. I firmly believe we're all connected, and our energies draw us together, so it is no coincidence that they both left this world on the same day... 6 years apart... My gran, Gigi (my mom's mom) raised me because my mom was a young girl at that time... my gran was the most compassionate soul I’ve ever known... she wore her heart on her sleeve and my daddy, the man of logic & reason possessed the most beautiful heart... their love for me was vibrant & vast as the ocean... my daddy had a unique connection with my gran and they were both free of expectation with an abundance of respect for each other… My fond memories go back to my toddler years where our tradition began… Celebrating our 3 Birthdays together became a yearly remembrance… We were the Three Musketeers… all born in August starting from my daddy’s Birthday on the 27th, mine on the 30th and my gran on the 31st, but that wasn’t the only thing that we shared…We also shared a love for the poet Jalal at-Din Muhammad Rumi ... so I thought in honor of them, I would share my favorite quote by Rumi... and it so happens to be the one that my daddy would often quote, “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” I always loved this quote, but I didn’t realize the true essence of it and why daddy would say this quote so often… But now I understand what he was trying to tell me… Practice it... I used to think if I planned everything then everything would happen like I wanted it to, but now I understand my daddy's message through the words of Rumi... I cherish it… I believe it… Rumi was telling the world what not to do… don’t plan… don’t control… let go and just walk the way… take action without looking for the outcome... This reminds me of something I heard... it was about the Semmering Pass that was built in the Alps... Train tracks were built over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice long before a “train existed that could make the trip... they built it because they knew someday the train would come...” so if you follow the voice that tells you to go for it without expecting a certain outcome... without fearing the outcome, you are no longer trying to control the outcome... the doors of possibilities open and a shift of energy follows because clarity happens once you are on your way… and once you take action…
