According to new Barna Group data, 24 percent of U.S. senior Protestant pastors seriously considered leaving full-time ministry in the past year.
That is one in four.
The pressures pastors face weigh heavily on their shoulders and in their hearts, including congregational expectations, staffing, the spiritual weight of leading, and, for a growing number of church leaders, the burden of a facility that no longer fits or a building project that feels too large to navigate alone.

Today is Brad Dupray's last day at CDF Capital.
Thirty-seven years. The longest tenured employee in CDF history. Brad began his career with CDF in February of 1989, when the fund was a fraction of the size it is today. His father, Carl, joined the board of CDF in 1965. It was Carl who walked Brad to the CDF offices in 1971 and helped him open his very first investment account. Between Carl and Brad, the Duprays have served this ministry for more than 60 years.
Brad reflected on what those years meant:
"I was a pastor who just happened to make loans to churches. In my 37 years with CDF, I've been able to work with churches that reached tens of thousands. It affirmed that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more beyond anything I ever imagined."
For thirty-seven years, Brad saw that promise fulfilled in the churches he served.

The Wall Street Journal called it "a rare construction bright spot." They were talking about churches.
Federal data shows religious construction spending rose nearly 17 percent in the 12 months through June 2025, even as overall construction spending fell nearly 3 percent in the same period. Much of that growth is showing up in multipurpose spaces, such as fellowship halls, childcare facilities, and coffee shops.
Congregations are deepening their connection to the communities around them. And kingdom-minded investors are part of that story.

In June 2024, Kingdom-minded investors helped Pursuit Church in North Carolina move into their new church home.
On the day they celebrated, Pastor John Doggette wanted to make one thing clear: it's not about the building. It never has been, and it never will be.
He reminded his congregation of the moment Jesus walked through the Temple with His disciples. The disciples marveled at what they saw. Jesus told them that not a single block would stand. Only one thing lasts, He said. His word. Jesus Himself.
As Pursuit Church celebrated its new facility, its pastor brought them back to the only foundation that matters. Love God. Love people. That's what they're there to do.
