California artist Robert Buelteman doesn’t use a camera to make his images. Instead, he places living plants on a metal surface and uses high-voltage electricity and fiber optic light to create the image. These works are called “Energetic Photograms,” which simply means images made by exposing light-sensitive material without a camera. In his case, the light comes from electricity and fiber optics rather than a lens.
