Taking shape at UCLA

Construction continues on the Sunset Canyon Recreation Replacement Building Project proposed by The Regents of the University of California, which will replace the original Sunset Canyon Recreation Center buildings, which had been closed because of seismic and other deficiencies.

The new building will provide modern multi-purpose spaces, a teaching kitchen, solar panels, a rooftop deck, and upgraded amenities. These facilities will support the UCLA community’s well-being, student group meetings and events, academic and cocurricular programs, as well as youth camps and competitive sports.

T&B Planning, under the leadership of Tina Andersen, provided CEQA compliance consulting services and prepared the Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) to support project approval and implementation.

It's exciting to see this project move from planning to reality, and we look forward to seeing the UCLA community enjoy the new space in the near future.

Design details matter — especially during entitlement.

This is the level of detail we go to when preparing a Specific Plan during the entitlement process. A planning area blob on a land use map only has value if there is real vision behind it — vision for what will be built, how neighborhoods will feel, how streets will flow, and how everything fits together as a community.

The harder work is answering what happens inside that boundary — the lot layouts, the street networks, the relationship between homes and open space — the details that turn a "planning area" into a place where people actually want to live.

This is a glimpse into the initial planning of the Menifee Valley Specific Plan in Menifee, CA — and this is how T&B Planning approaches entitlement.

Because what's on the plan is the inspiration and direction for what gets built.
