September is
Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

None of us who have ever had a doctor tell us “your child has cancer” will ever forget that day and how our, our child’s, and our entire family’s life changed in that moment.

In the years since Mira was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma (January 2006) the survival rates haven’t improved much.

47 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States today. The equivalent of two full classrooms.

1 in 5 children diagnosed with cancer will not survive.

90% of children who survive their cancer will have long-term side effects of their cancer and its treatment.

Only directing more funding to pediatric cancer research will change these numbers and change these children’s realities.
