Next month, the City will open a temporary parking lot at the site of the recently demolished Water Street parking garage to support downtown businesses through the upcoming holiday season.

The lot will provide some 45 spots of free two-hour parking for downtown patrons to boost local business.

Major construction on the $48 million mixed-use development will begin in the spring, with underground work happening on site in the meantime. The new building will provide about 500 parking spots and 120 units of market-rate housing.

WPD's community outreach and design for the proposed Columbus Park improvements have been recognized with an Honor Award by the NYUASLA in the 'Unbuilt' category. We hope that this attention will contribute to the ongoing work to improve this important public space in Downtown Binghamton.
