In their conversation, Gay speaks about how most carbon offset programs often lack transparency in their intended solutions and that there’s a discrepancy between people’s donations and tangible climate action.

The Finger Lakes Climate Fund works by acting as a supplement to existing state subsidy programs to simply help households afford the work to keep their homes cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Throughout the years, over 30 organizations across the nation have learned how to replicate the Climate Fund model. Part of its success is its accessibility and scale. Students can offset as little as $5, while businesses can offset their travel or operational costs and be recognized as community partners.
