My Story

I am a Mexican American Muslim from Queens, NY, I reverted from Christianity 2 years ago. Ever since I can remember I’ve always been an active volcano, always using my hands to get me out of certain situations. My passion for boxing started when I was around 10 years old, at the time when Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez was king of the ring. I remember the day I saw boxing for the first time, and watched Julio punish his opponent. I paid attention to the noise around me, my dad, his friends and family members cheering for him, screaming Chavez Chavez! Viva Mexico! Since that moment I knew I wanted to be in the ring and have people chant my name. I started getting involved in the martial arts world at the age of 12, and started kickboxing and boxing at 16. At 16 my dream was to try out for the USA Boxing Olympic team. Due to some setbacks I lost sight of that dream, but never really got over it, it just stayed dormant in my mind. It wasn’t until now that I decided to wake up and go for it before it is too late, I am very fortunate to have this happen to me right now, at a time where boxing is no longer considered a sport for only the young. It’s a new era for fighters, there are plenty of recent documentaries out about people in their 30s and 40s who are now realizing their potential as fighters some with no experience and they are making it happen. It was at that point when I realized, what the hell am I waiting for. So now I’m doing it!
