When we rescued Delilah from her neglectful past, the damage was everywhere, from her weakened ligaments to the large abscess on her neck that formed simply because no one ever cared enough to treat a small wound.

But today, thanks to Humane Warriors, a Paws of War Initiative, Delilah is finally healing.

Her abscess is beginning to close, her weight is slowly returning, and she is getting the nutrition and support her body has been denied for far too long. Her ligaments are responding to proper care, and she is more relaxed, more alert, and more willing to be touched and comforted.

Thank you to everyone who has followed her journey and helped us give her a future she was never supposed to have.

Update on mini: We took a couple days off from Facebook to enjoy Christmas with family. During that time we watched the movie Scrooge and something about Tiny Tim’s character reminded us of the mini. We have officially in the holiday spirit named the mini Tiny Tim. He has allowed us to brush his mane as it feels so good to his dry, scaly skin. We’ve noticed he has skin problems that need to be addressed. We’ve used different types of brushes, but it’s almost impossible to rake out the dry crusties that are matted into his mane. He loves to be scratched! He’s not too good on a lead rope yet and we don’t want him to struggle with his leg in the condition that it’s in to get him to a bathing station. Tomorrow the vet and farrier will meet to see Tiny Tim. He will be under sedation during the visit to x-ray his hoof to see what the initial cause of this situation is and how to proceed in correcting it. We’ll post an update on him tomorrow as soon as we have more answers to what his recovery will entail.

Please consider donating to Tiny Tim’s medical and farrier procedures at the link below. Thank you to everyone that has donated, liked, shared and followed this sweet guy’s updates.

MINI RESCUE UPDATE:

We had a great night with some friends and this sweet skittish boy. After three slow days, he is finally warming up and allowing us to get close enough to love and scratch on him. He is still very shy, but tolerating us as best as he can.

After getting to rub on his mane and back, we are finding more skin issues and a lot of crustiness at the roots of his mane. We believe he is going to come around and become a little social butterfly while on the mend from the leg and hoof procedures.

While we still are waiting on the vet/farrier visit, we’ve had many opinions of what might be going on with the hoof/leg. None of them seem to be inexpensive procedures. If he has a contracted tendon, googles estimate is $3,000-$4,000k just for the surgery. That doesn’t include rehab, labor, feed, teeth, vaccines, annual care, etc. Our targeted goal is $5k to get him vetted, treated, and rehabbed of which we have raise $400. We have a long way to go to get this little man the help he needs to have a comfortable life. Please help however and as best that you can.

Thank you all so much for your support, donations, likes, shares and cross posts. We appreciate every one of you. If you would like to donate to his efforts, the link is below, and please keep sharing his story, he deserves a peaceful, loving, comfortable life.

If you’ve made it this far in the post and are still following his story, we have come up with “Chance” and “Sparky” as name options, throw us some name ideas, we’d love to hear from you!
