Constellation Waltz

Dream Me To Neptune

ROB ASTOR is no stranger to writing music inspired by the solar system. Glancing through his extensive catalog, there are numerous compositions recorded for and about the planets and stars. His newest collection is a series of three albums inspired in part by space travel - ISLAND UNIVERSE DREAMS, MOON KID, and STARDUST SPEEDWAY - so it should be of little surprise to find tracks scattered throughout the three discs about that very subject. One of the many standout pieces of music on the album MOON KID is titled "Dream Me To Neptune". It's so perfectly nestled between layers of electronica that - when heard - it's piano melody is a musical breath of fresh air - a sparkling gem of quasi-classical meets modern cinema wrapped in an astronomer's dream. The flow though circular structure modulations feels so natural, and sounds so much like one of the masters, you forget for a moment the music was recorded very recently. There's plaintive longing and melancholy emotion tugging at the heartstrings weaving between melodic textures. Not bad considering "Dream Me To Neptune" is an escapist track.
