💙 We’re Looking for Small Group Facilitators!

One of the biggest takeaways from our last caregiver support group was that we need more volunteers to help facilitate our small group discussions.

At one table, one caregiver ended up trying to guide a discussion with nearly 20 parents. While the conversation was meaningful, it reminded us how important it is to have caring volunteers at each table so no one has to carry that responsibility alone.

For our August 3 meeting, we’re hoping to recruit about 10 volunteers to serve as Small Group Facilitators (Conversation Guides) with 1–2 facilitators per table.

What does a facilitator do?

đź’™ Welcome everyone.
đź’™ Read the discussion questions.
đź’™ Encourage everyone to participate.
đź’™ Listen with empathy.
đź’™ Help create a safe, welcoming environment.

You do not have to teach, counsel, or have all the answers. In fact, the best facilitators often talk the least. Your role is simply to help every caregiver feel seen, heard, and included.

We’ll provide the discussion questions and a brief orientation beforehand, so you won’t be doing this alone.

If you have a compassionate heart and can listen well, we’d love to have you join us.

đź“… Monday, August 3
đź•  Registration begins at 5:30 PM
🕕 Meeting: 6:00–8:00 PM
📍 Englewood Baptist Church

Comment below or send me a message if you’d be willing to help. Together, we can make sure every caregiver has a safe place to share and connect.

đź’™ Respite Sponsorship Spotlight

This month marked the very first month of our Sponsor a Caregiver Respite Program in partnership with STAR Center Home Care, and it was a tremendous success. The STAR Center, Inc.

One of our biggest goals at For the Caregivers has always been removing the barriers that prevent family caregivers from receiving support. For many, the biggest challenge isn’t transportation—it’s finding trusted care for their loved one while they step away.

Through our partnership with STAR Center Home Care, a $100 sponsorship provides up to 4 hours of professional in-home respite care, allowing a caregiver to attend our monthly support group knowing their loved one is safe, cared for, and in good hands.

This month’s recipient was Becky, the sole caregiver for her daughter, Katelyn. Without respite care through STAR Center Home Care, Becky shared that she would not have been able to attend.

She told us:

“I was relieved and thankful. I got a few hours to focus on me, and that very rarely happens. I had peace of mind.”

Because this first month was such a success, we’d love to expand this partnership with STAR Center Home Care so more family caregivers can receive respite and attend our support group.

đź’™ Our immediate goal is to sponsor Becky for the remainder of the year.

From August through December, it will take $500 to provide monthly respite care through STAR Center Home Care so Becky can continue attending each support group.

Would you consider sponsoring one month for $100 or making a gift of any amount toward our $500 goal? Every donation helps remove one more barrier that keeps a caregiver from receiving the support they need.

Every respite sponsorship through STAR Center Home Care gives a family caregiver something they rarely receive: a few hours to breathe, be encouraged, and know they are not alone. đź’™
