Until the terrible decisions that are being made about mountain lions in Utah go away, the many people determined to speak up for lions will not go away.
Why Utah's mountain lions are at the center of a growing debate Mountain lions are elusive, misunderstood and at the center of a heated debate. Scientists and conservationists weigh in on the future of Utah's wildlife management.
Summer is here in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and so is everything that comes with it. More heat, more traffic, and more people on the landscape mean that watering holes and quiet refuges are essential for the animals that call this place home year round.
The idea of refuge feels more important than ever right now. A recent USFWS proposal aims to open approximately 95% of the National Wildlife Refuge System to expanded hunting, fishing and trapping while removing some refuge-specific protections. Beyond the direct impacts, increased human presence in these spaces changes animal behavior and can shift their movements away from the places they depend on most.
If you feel strongly about protecting public lands and the hidden lives on them, staying informed about land management decisions is one of the most meaningful things you can do.
We hope you enjoyed these scences of black bears and deer making their way to the pond. We are grateful for every peaceful moment these animals still have to themselves.
